This issue (Vol.46 No.6) of the CMOS Bulletin features a variety of important climate and weather articles, including the President’s Message for December. You can read David Phillip’s “Canada’s Top Ten Weather Stories of 2018”, and see what the weather has in store for us with Environment and Climate Change Canada’s seasonal outlook for winter. Huaiping Zhu and colleagues from York University and NOVUS Environmental share the power of the Ontario Climate Data Portal (OCDP) for running through a variety of scenarios for Ontario’s climate of the future. CMOS’ statement on the recent IPCC Special Report on global warming of 1.5 deg C provides an important message of support and also a brief summary of the key findings. Laura Twidle of CatIQ has included an article on the growing challenges of insurance catastrophes in Canada due to climate related natural disasters. The meteorological community lost two important members recently, and touching tributes to Terry Gillespie and Bill Gault are included, as are several smaller news items and member’s updates.
